Our new flags!
We were honoured with a special visit from the local member for Ashwood, Matt Fregon at last Friday's assembly. Matt has visited our school many times, often to speak with students about the structure of government and local issues important to them. But this visit was a little different. Matt presented us with three new flags - the Australian national flag, the Indigenous flag and the Torres Strait Island flag.
Our previous flags had served us well for a number of years, but after many days outside in the suns and rain were starting to look a little tired. Matt presented the flags to our two Community leaders, Ara and Kristy in front of the whole school. As leaders, Ara and Kristy are in charge of organising the raising and lowering the flags.
Look out for the new flags in the plaza!
