Japanese Cultural Day

Newsletter Week 3 - Japanese

We celebrated our Japanese Cultural Day on 5 May, which is also Children’s Day in Japan. It was wonderful to see our students dressed in red, white, or Japanese-inspired costumes, including some traditional outfits.

To mark this special occasion, students created koi fish arts and crafts. In Japan, koinobori (carp streamers) are traditionally displayed outside homes on this day.

We also enjoyed a whole-school incursion, where students participated in games and learned about the concept of mottainai and the importance of being environmentally responsible. Both students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Each year, we invite a special guest, and this year was no exception. Squirtle from Pokémon visited each class to say hello and join in the celebrations of Japanese Cultural Day.
