Week 8 Term Two
The Prep cohort have continued to learn more about animals, in particular how to classify animals based on their features, e.g. A bear is a mammal because it has fur. They have enjoyed looking at mixed up animals in videos and books in preparation for creating their own imaginary animal to share at the upcoming EXPO.
Other learning experiences in Prep over the past two weeks have included:
- Learning about the measuring attribute of length (how long something is) in Maths and comparing the lengths of objects directly and using the language of length (long, longer, short, shorter, tall, height etc).
- Making predictions about what a book/movie is about and what will happen next in Reading.
- Representing numbers from 0-10 and then to 20 using numerals and making them with concrete materials.
- Writing short information texts about animals they know about.
Writing simple sentences using CVC (consonant/vowel/consonant) words and HFW (high frequency words).
