Week 6 Term Two
The Prep cohort have been learning about animals and their habitats during our Connected Unit on “Place.” The Preps have been linking learning from the Connected unit into Literacy lessons by reading lots of Non Fiction books about animals and writing short informative texts about the animals they know. The students have been so excited to learn more about various animals and share the facts they already know with their peers.
Other learning experiences in Prep over the past two weeks have included:
- Learning our last VOWEL - the letter U in our phonics lessons.
- Identifying the differences between fiction and non fiction texts in Reading.
- Labelling the features of animals (beaks, claws, paws etc).
- Asking Yes or No questions to gather data in Maths sessions.
- Using ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd) when talking about number order or favourite foods, or running in a race.
- Learning about our personal strengths like Bravery and Kindness during our SMILE/Visual Wellbeing lessons.
- Learning First Nations stories and understanding the message behind “Wear it Yellow Day” for Reconciliation Week.
