From the Principal

Half way there for the term

We have now ticked over the half way point of the term as we complete Week 6 of an 11 week term. There's been a lot already happening so far, and there's still much to happen for the rest of this term with incursions, sport, expos and reports still to come! Don't forget you can check out the upcoming events and dates via the calendar on our website - click here

Year 5 Camp

Our Year 5 campers are due back this afternoon from their 3 day/2 night adventure at Camp Manyung in Mount Eliza. As well as spending their days climbing, exploring and trekking, the cohort worked together as teams in solving problems, supporting each other and creating stronger bonds. For many of the students, it is their first time away from home which presents a watershed moment for both the students but also their parents! We need to give a big thanks the adults who made the camp happen - Mr Purdy for his organisational skills, as well as Bella, Miss V, Mr Worlley, Miss Whitehead, Sarah Swan, Mr Brisbane and Jess for giving up their time outside of school hours. It couldn't happen without them!

PREP Enrolments 2026

The Year 6 leaders have been busy this Term running lots of school tours showcasing our wonderful school to prospective parents! They love to see our school in action and provide very positive feedback. If you are a current family don’t forget to submit your online enrolment for any younger siblings by Friday 25 July 2025.

Baby News!

Earlier this year we bid farewell to Miss Gilmour and Miss Dalziel as they prepared to expand their families. I'm pleased to share that they have both welcomed healthy babies!

Miss Gilmour and her husband are now proud parents of TWO new editions - Eadie and Remi who join big brother Fletcher and their two fur babies. Miss Dalziel and her partner welcomed little Harriet who joins her big sister Georgia.

What's up in Yr 3?

The past two weeks have been very exciting.

We loved dressing up and watching Showko on Japanese Cultural day. This week we “wore it yellow” and learnt about reconciliation.

We have wrapped up multiplicative thinking for a few weeks and will be linking up our new skills with additive thinking for the next few weeks.

We have been measuring areas and perimeters and talking about probability.

We are so proud of our expositions that we have just finished writing.

In reading we have been working on summarising and nonfiction text features.

We loved our Water Watchers incursion and have been learning all about the Amazon rainforest.

Prep Latest

Week 6 Term Two

The Prep cohort have been learning about animals and their habitats during our Connected Unit on “Place.” The Preps have been linking learning from the Connected unit into Literacy lessons by reading lots of Non Fiction books about animals and writing short informative texts about the animals they know. The students have been so excited to learn more about various animals and share the facts they already know with their peers.

Other learning experiences in Prep over the past two weeks have included:

  • Learning our last VOWEL - the letter U in our phonics lessons.
  • Identifying the differences between fiction and non fiction texts in Reading.
  • Labelling the features of animals (beaks, claws, paws etc).
  • Asking Yes or No questions to gather data in Maths sessions.
  • Using ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd) when talking about number order or favourite foods, or running in a race.
  • Learning about our personal strengths like Bravery and Kindness during our SMILE/Visual Wellbeing lessons.
  • Learning First Nations stories and understanding the message behind “Wear it Yellow Day” for Reconciliation Week.

Wear it Yellow Fundraiser Thank you!

Thank you everyone for all of your support on Tuesday, the Wear it Yellow fundraiser was a great success!

Children's Ground doubled Ashy's donation of $350, meaning we raised $866 total!!!! Woo!

Every dollar raised supports First Nations children, families, and communities to lead their own future at Children’s Ground, ensuring access to education, health, and employment opportunities rooted in culture, language, and self-determination. By wearing a touch of yellow, you’re not just showing support — you’re creating real change.

Why yellow?

Yellow is one of the vibrant colours of the land – the sacred ochre that First Nations people have used for generations. It reflects First Nations peoples’ deep connection to Country and the earth. Yellow is the centre of the Aboriginal Flag, which also represents the sun as the giver of life. And it is the colour of Children’s Ground!

There is a link attached if you wished to donate to our school fundraiser.
