Yr 6 Latest

It’s hard to believe we’ve already reached the end of Term 2! The Year 6 students have had a fantastic term filled with new learning experiences, sporting opportunities and creative projects. As we head into a well-deserved break, it has been wonderful to see students continue to challenge themselves, work collaboratively and take pride in their achievements. Over the past two weeks, students have been:

  • Continuing to develop their understanding of fractions in Maths, working within their Year 6 cohort groups to build their skills and confidence. Students have also participated in Maths Olympiad, Maths Games and investigation groups, where they have been challenged to think critically and solve complex problems.
  • Working hard on their Connected Learning projects, spending time filming and editing their presentations. Students have shown great teamwork and perseverance as they worked towards completing their projects within the allocated timeframe.
  • Representing the school in their final round of Interschool Sport, competing against Camberwell South Primary School. Students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the season, and it has been fantastic to see everyone enjoy their chosen sports this term.
  • Writing, editing and publishing their historical fiction pieces in Writing, carefully incorporating historical facts, descriptive language and engaging story elements. Students should be very proud of the creativity and effort they have put into their final pieces.
  • Continuing to read and explore Sister Heart by Sally Morgan in Reading, while completing activities in their resource booklet. The novel has encouraged thoughtful discussions and helped students deepen their understanding of important themes and historical events.
  • Participating in a cross-cohort SMILE activity, where students spent time connecting with younger peers across the school. It was wonderful to see the positive relationships, leadership and kindness on display, and students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Overall, the past two weeks have been a wonderful way to finish off a busy and successful term. We are incredibly proud of the effort, enthusiasm and resilience shown by all students and wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday break.
