Prep Transition Sessions

This Friday we begin a three session journey for our new 2026 Prep students. Over three Friday mornings, our newbies will visit the classroom and engage in activities as a means to acclimatise to their new school. Then, on Tuesday December 9th, they (and all the other 2026 students) will meet their new class teachers, new classmates in their new classroom.

Upcoming student free day - Monday November 24th

A reminder that on Monday, November 24th we will be having our fourth and final curriculum day as the staff engage in classroom management professional development with Dr Bill Rogers. This day will be a student free day, so make sure you put it in your calendar. Team Kids will be running a full day program for those needing their services.

School Contributions

Today you will have received a newsfeed advising you that the 2026 School Contributions are now open. As you may have read last week in the letter from School Council President Daniel Arenphy, your school contributions are much needed for our school to continue to deliver high quality teaching and learning programs for students, as well as maintain and grow our infrastructure and school grounds. Contributions can be made via Compass under the Course Confirmation section.

What's up in Year 3

Hard to believe we are nearly halfway into the term. Year 3 have been working on their descriptive writing skills, using the five senses to write creative, imaginative snapshots and turn them into incredible narratives. We have been investigating the different ways a story can be told and are learning all about visual literacy elements. In maths we have been working on the concepts of sharing and grouping and how to work through multiplicative worded problems. Soon we will have completed making our own card games to help teach others to tell the time. For connected learning our imaginations have been running wild, making folded book art, chalk drawings, anamorphic art and more. We were very lucky to have our two Toonworld incursions this week, making our own storyboards, characters and sets to film our own stop motion film.

Our highlights this week have been:

  • I enjoyed making Follow Freddy maps
  • I liked making instructions and following them to make a pattern
  • I liked how we got to use detail to write a snapshot and see how it turned out as an image
  • Making our own settings for our stories
  • Doing all the creative activities

Yr 1 News

What a jam packed fortnight!

Year 1 has continued to be busy, busy, busy and the students have been working super hard. The highlight was probably our Connected Learning incursion from ‘Supreme Incursions’. Emma came to visit us to run their ‘Brickworks Incursion’. In this incursion, we worked collaboratively in groups to plan and build a shelter out of Lego that could withstand ‘rain’ (blue Lego) and a wind storm (Emma waving a large lid at our structure!). It was super fun and we were so impressed with the way the students worked together and created amazing structures.

In SMILE we sat in a double circle and had short discussions with people we knew but weren’t close friends with. We brainstormed questions we could ask people to get to know them and then follow up questions to get more information. After 2 minutes, we rotated and sat with the person next to them and met another new friend.

In Reading, we read non-fiction texts on robots and answered questions and pulled out any tricky words we found.

In Writing, we continued with our Narrative writing, using a picture prompt to create a story with characters, a setting, problem and solution.

In Maths, we focussed on Additive thinking. This includes recalling our doubles and near doubles, which helps us with our number facts.

Can’t wait to see what is to come in the next 2 weeks!

Yr 5 News

It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through Term 4!

The Year 5s have been incredibly busy bringing their picture storybooks to life. They’ve been focusing on using illustrations and storytelling to teach a meaningful lesson to their prep pal. A lot of creativity, thought, and detail has gone into their work.

We’ve also kicked off our Bizarre Bazaar project, where students are creating their own business and designing their own products. The ideas they’ve come up with are clever, and imaginative. We can’t wait to see their finished creations at the end of the term.

A real highlight this term was the visit from the ASPIRE team, who spent the day with us exploring leadership skills. Through fun activities and challenges, students built confidence, worked collaboratively, and stepped outside their comfort zones to try new things with new people. It was wonderful to see their teamwork and resilience.

We look forward to the second half of the term!
