Year 5 Newsletter

The last few weeks of Term 3 have been jam-packed with visitors, incursions, athletics, and so much more!

Our Year 3 to 6 students had the chance to attend the Ashy Olympics at the Bill Sewart Athletics Track. We were lucky with beautiful weather, and it was fantastic to see everyone get involved. A special mention goes to our Year 5s, who showed wonderful teamwork and initiative by helping with events on the day. We are very proud of the students who made it through to division and even prouder of the way they celebrated their own achievements.

In the classroom, students have been busy preparing their own Poetry Slams. Linking with our Connected Learning topics, they chose from important global issues such as malnutrition, child labour, access to healthcare, education, and water and hygiene. Students brainstormed their ideas, wrote powerful poems, and performed them using expression, repetition, and passion. Their performances were both inspiring and moving.

We were also very fortunate to welcome John, a Year 5 parent, who visited to share about his role at World Vision. His presentation gave students an insight into how World Vision helps those in need around the world. The students were thoroughly engaged and inspired by his talk. We thank John again for his time and generosity.

It has been a busy and rewarding term for our Year 5s, and we are so proud of their efforts and achievements!
